As we all know, I am currently studying at the University of the Philippines Cebu as a second year high school student. And every time I go out the house, and ride a public vehicle wearing my high school uniform, I'm amaze with the people's reactions; some stare at me as if examining my moves, clothes and my looks while some just look at me in a second and, as if being shy at me, will suddenly get his or her eyes on me when I look at him or her. What the people are thinking 'bout me I do not know but there are things that made me wondering. Why are they looking at me like that? Am I an alien in this world? Is there something on my face?!....As I examined myself quietly to answer my own questions, I found nothing! NOTHINGS wrong about me and that my questions left unanswered, until this day came......
I realized that maybe, they are thinking that I'm so nerdy because I come from a very 'unique' school, they say. But I'm not! I'm not that kind of person who is so devoted to intellectual pursuits. Well, I work hard and study hard to be a professional, but I do not spend my whole high school years reading my books, memorizing passages and writing notes, I also play and to enjoy myself is one of my hobbies. Frankly speaking, I am not really enjoying my life in U.P. but this is an opportunity and is a gift from god so I will and have to accept it.
They might also be thinking that I'm just super. Well, I'm not. We U.P. students are not that superb which you can compare with a scientist. I am not living in a laboratory where I can make my experiments everyday and discover more things or more about science. We don't possess all the knowledge in the world. We don't even know all that could be learned and stock them on our brain. Just like ordinary students, we could have brain disorder if we tried to. You can't compare us with the scientist who has the biggest brain in the world, Myron MegaBrain of K-Zone's Oddbodz.
A U.P. student is not totally brainy. Our school maybe the best school in
U.P. students are not geeks, meaning, we are not that kind of person of intellectual bent who are often disliked. We have many friends because we are friendly. I have many friends, not only inside the campus but also outside the campus world.
We study; work hard but we are not nerds, not geeks ...not geniuses!
