Do you really think that love is a fallacy?
Well, I think yes for this Max Schulman. Did he really make this crazy story? How? I want to know. I was greatly, super greatly impressed with this story of him. I don’t think he himself made this. Joke!
The story ‘Love Is A Fallacy’ was simply amazing. I was amazed and was doubtful when I read the ending of the story. Why?!? I didn’t expect it. I was expecting happiness in the life of the narrator. I thought he was the most perfect ideal guy on earth. I was expecting that he and Polly would be, in the end, steady with each other.
Polly was really a dumb, idiot, foolish girl. Yes, she was a beautiful, gracious lady but intelligent she was not. She lacked information about the world she is roaming. Imagine, he chose Petey Bellows, a stupid guy in their campus who is a faddist, instead of Mr. Perfect. But even though she chose Petey Bellows, I like the way she thinks. She was a fast learner. She was a logician. In five days time, she had understood and mastered all that was taught to her. Unlike Petey, she was not truly that dumb. She had knowledge left on her brain but unfortunately, she was not using it. Such a waist!
Petey Bellows was dumber than Polly. He was a narrow-minded guy. He was fooled by the big men on the campus that wear raccoon coats. What kind of boyfriend he was that he chose the raccoon coat in place of her Polly. I didn't fell so much contented with his attitude towards his girl. He neglected Polly for such a boring and futile purpose.
Mr. Perfect was such an intelligent, keen and was perfect! An ideal guy to all of the girls in this world. I liked him because he exerted great efforts and wasted a lot of his time for such an idiot girl. And what ha had gotten for this, failure. I felt pity for him. I thought that if that was me he coveted, then I would not refuse being his girl first, for the fact that he was just perfect and second, he was industrious and hardworking.
I liked also the comparison between the narrator and Pygmalion. He was truly a Pygmalion himself but she was fooled by Petey and Polly rejected his love for her. The story 'Love is a Fallacy' was just perfect for bookworms and it will also encourage non-bookworms to read books because it was a nice story. It was also very informative because it gives us information about the common fallacies of logic: Ad Misericordiam, Hasty Generalization, Post Hoc, Dicto Sympliciter, False Analogy, Poisoning the Well and Hypothesis Contrary To Fact. It also tells the true meaning of love.

SUMMARY OF 'LOVE IS A FALLACY'
He was only eighteen yet he has such a great intellect. Unlike his roommate at the university, Petey Bellows, Petey was of the same age, a nice companion but was a dumb fellow. He was crazy, idiot boy. In every new mania that comes along, he surrendered himself to idiocy. Once, he found Petey lying on his bed and seemed to be I great trouble. Petey wanted a raccoon coat just because it was the new craze on the campus. Petey said that he would give anything for a raccoon coat. It so happened that he knew where to get a raccoon coat but with one condition. He had long desire for Petey’s girl, Polly Espy. Polly was a beautiful, gracious woman but as dumb as Petey.
He had promised Petey to bring a raccoon coat. When he was back from a weekend vacation, he asked Petey to decide whether he would give Polly to him or no raccoon coat. Petey was so dedicated to the raccoon coat.
He and Polly were out for their first date. He went back with a heavy heart. He thought Polly needed to be taught to think. On their second date, he taught Polly about the fallacies of logic. For the next three days of patience and dedication, it was the same. They had completed the eight common fallacies of logic.
The time had come to express to Polly what his feelings for the girl are. But it seemed to be that Polly was smarter than he was. Within those five days of teaching Polly, he didn’t expect it to be that complicated. For every thought he said to her, Polly would contradict by using the fallacies she learned from him.
It was like he was struck by lightning when he new that Polly would go steady with his roommate, Petey Bellows. Petey had fooled him. Polly surely have one logical reason why she should go steady with Petey and it’s because of his raccoon coat.

ON BEING TAUGHT BY STUDENTS (KNOW YOUR SCHOOL DAY)
The “Know Your School Day” or most popularly known as KYSD is an annual event that enables us, as student, experience what our teachers live day by day. Through this, we can appreciate their efforts better and avoid stressing them too much.
Now, are you ready to hear my experience?
Last February, we celebrated KYSD here in our school. Most likely, it was a day that teachers had their day-off and students took their place. During Grade One, I dreamt of becoming a teacher but it was changed, this maybe the reason why I did not join. I did not join the league of student teachers though but I experienced being taught by them.
It was fun even though not to all. At first, I felt nervous because I thought that they will give some questions related to the previous chapter or will call me to answer some questions and I couldn’t answer. But I was thankful they didn’t. The first subject which was handled by students was the Biology class. I remembered Ma Jane handled the first-half of the class. I was not interested yet and I thought that it just okay to sit there without being noticed or bothered by the teachers.
I was impressed with the start of “Know Your School Day”. I felt that it was interesting and fun. You could express your thoughts freely and talked with the students teachers on your front. Being taught by students is really good. Even though they weren’t experts in teaching, they had their own strategies in making the class cheerfully awake. In one instance, when they had time left, they conducted a game that was related to the topic.
During the Social Science lass, there were many students who handled it. One point that I liked most was that they were not just teaching the students but were also debating with us. I was then alive and awake. Being taught by them was like being taught by Mdm. Logarta herself. They contradicted on what we were saying. I was impressed with the way they taught because they were truly alike with Mdm. Logarta. It was a month after the ASEAN summit though but it was about the summit. I got much information about it and we had expressed our thoughts and regrets about the summit. They were good followers also because they continued the lesson taught by the real teacher during the last meeting.
Student teachers must have known what they were talking about. If not, they couldn’t teach well and the students would be confused about the lessons. I notice that some student teachers didn’t explain the lessons thoroughly. And even they had not completely taken up the whole chapter or the assigned topic; they directly gave tests not knowing that some of their students didn’t understand the lesson. I felt mad on them because they did not think the good of others only of themselves. But some students are shy in expressing their thoughts and protest because they are friends with the student teachers.
Unfortunately, the KYSD this school year lasted for only two days maybe because of the hectic schedule and limited time that as given. But it was successful and it enables students to enhance their abilities in teaching, help them have the courage to interact with other people. These are my experiences and the feelings I felt during the KYSD. It is in you if you will accept my reactions. Bye!
